LIS 160 Portfolio 1:”Do you think technology is neutral?”

Personally, I think technology is neutral. Technology has brought us very dangerous things such as hacking, weapons, nukes, and other very terrifying inventions to life. Yet it has also brought us some things that most, if not all, of us cannot imagine life without now, things like cars, trains, internet, YouTube, Netflix, Video Games, and many many more. As such. we can see that the mere fact that it has brought both beneficial things and horrible things to mankind is proof of this. In the end, it merely depends on us humans as the creators and wielders of technology to use it responsibly. It is up to us whether we decide technology becomes a tool for good or for evil or even still just simply neutral. In the way security guards and police guard civilians(or atleast like they should be doing), a gun used by them that which may seem like evil at first glance, can also be used in a good sense to protect. In the same way, the Internet which has brought us various benefits can also be used in evil through cyber-bullying, piracy, and other crimes. As such I believe technology is simply neutral.
